MFL - French

At SSPP, we aim to foster positives attitudes, interest and enthusiasm for languages.  We believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for pupils.  Pupils develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning.  They develop linguistic competence, extend their knowledge of how language works and explore differences and similarities between foreign languages and English.

We teach French as our chosen language - making links to languages spoken by children in our cohort and their families.  We use the Classroom Secrets Scheme of Work as our base model.  This allows for introductory units to take place in Year 1 and Year 2.  These include 'Introducing French Vocabulary'; 'Introducing French Culture' and 'Introducing French Numbers'.
